TAEKWONDO FOR KIDS Our Taekwondo for Kids program is based in the traditional teachings of Taekwondo, but our classes are so fun that your child will not even know they are being trained to be better disciplined at home and at school, more focused in home studies as well as at school, and more fit then the other children in your neighborhood. Improve your child’s chances in the real world by giving them the gift of self-defense and the values that you were taught as a child. Your child will learn to punch and kick like a superstar on TV, learn when is appropriate to use their newly learned self-defense skills and most importantly learn to be a well rounded martial arts student exemplifying the values of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit. ABOUT OUR CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS At Taekwondo America, our children's programs are second to none. We teach our students using a basic philosophy of positive reinforcement to build Self Esteem, Confidence, Discipline, Positive Attitude, and Values. At Taekwondo America we realize that although the ability to defend oneself is important, there are many additional benefits to be gained from involving your child in a martial arts program. TAEKWONDO FOR MEN There are many reasons for adult men to become involved in Taekwondo. Through the years, however, we have found that the majority of our male adult students have gotten started for one of the following reasons: Self-Defense: The ability to take care of one-self in any potentially dangerous, or uncomfortable situation, is one reason many adult men join, even though most of our adults seldom, if ever, get into a fighting situation. They often find themselves, however, in an uncomfortable situation, such as walking to their car late at night, or escorting their wife or girlfriend in a less than secure neighborhood. It's at times like this that martial arts training greatly enhances your self-confidence because of the ability to really care of yourself, or someone you care for, when time arises. Fitness: Our society currently puts a great deal of emphasis on staying in shape and looking good. Many men find the traditional ways of working out, such as weights or running, are boring and hard to stay committed to. Taekwondo offers an exciting way to stay in shape that doesn't get boring or routine. Lifestyle: Many men have read articles of books about the martial arts, have seen TV documentaries, or have friends in the martial arts and have joined because of the positive benefits that the martial arts have on people's lives. Some examples of these benefits are improved concentration, reduced stress, improved self-confidence, and a positive mental attitude. Comradeship: Working out with friends who are working toward the same goals is a rewarding way to break the routine of work and home in a positive and fulfilling way. An Unfilled Dream: Many of the men in our program have dreamed about trying the martial arts since they were children but never had the time or money to make the commitment. The martial arts have always been known as one of the world's oldest and most recognized activities that everyone can do, no matter what age or physical ability. Special Advanced Instruction and Clinics: We pride ourselves in offering special clinics and advanced instruction. As professional instructors, we realize that some of our students have specific training needs and requirements that can best be answered in special clinics and advanced classes.

TAEKWONDO FOR WOMEN Many women are not comfortable with the thought of becoming involved in the martial arts. This initial nervousness or fear is due to many misconceptions about the martial arts or because they may simply not be aware of how much fun and rewarding it can be. There are many reasons for women to practice a martial art but from our experience our female students seem to feel the following reasons are the ones that made the most sense to them when they got started. Self-Defense: Not being in control of an uncomfortable situation is the number one reason most women initially come to us when they consider the martial arts. Walking to a car late at night after work, riding a bicycle alone in an unfamiliar neighborhood, or even hearing of a bad experience a friend has had are all reasons for women to want to be able to defend themselves and to have self-confidence in these situations. Fitness: Most women can only do so many aerobic classes or run so many solo miles before they start dreaming of something more enjoyable and exciting to do to stay in shape. Taekwondo is a great way to stay in shape that doesn't become dull or routine because as you get better and learn more there are always more challenges ahead to keep you inspired and coming back to the school. Combat Hapkido

  HAPKIDO FOR TEENS AND ADULTS Combat Hapkido is an extremely realistic and versatile discipline of self protection that includes an extensive variety of strikes, kicks, joint locks, pressure points, grappling and disarming techniques. The result is a practical, comprehensive Self Defense system that is enjoyable to learn and that produces effective results in realistic situations. Combat Hapkido's dynamic concepts are based on scientific principles of anatomy and biokinetics as well as psychology and strategy. It is well suited for men and women of all ages because physical strength and athletic abilities are not essential. The emphasis is on redirecting the assailants' aggression and power back towards them with little effort and minimum force on your part. Founding this system did not involve "inventing" the techniques. It was a matter of selecting the most realistic, effective, and practical ones, modifying others and then combining and arranging these techniques in a structured system of instruction designed for individuals of all physical abilities living in a modern society. The essence of Combat Hapkido is pure Self Defense. It is the synthesis of dynamic concepts, scientific principles, realistic applications and plain common sense. The Difference Between Traditional Hapkido.... .....And Combat Hapkido Combat Hapkido is a new, modern style of Hapkido developed by Grandmaster John Pellegrini. Combat Hapkido differs from other Hapkido styles philosophically as well as technically. Following are just a few examples: * Combat Hapkido is 100% Self Defense. There are no forms (Kata/Hyungs). * All Combat Hapkido kicks are directed to the lower part of the body. * Combat Hapkido does not teach "acrobatic" kicks. * Combat Hapkido employs break falls and throws in a very limited manner. * Combat Hapkido has no hard block stances. * Combat Hapkido does not teach "Traditional" weapons like the joot-do (bamboo sword) or fan. We teach cane, belt and other Self Defense tools. * Combat Hapkido teaches special firearms disarming techniques. * Combat Hapkido contains a complete Ground Grappling program. * Combat Hapkido, because it is flexible, dynamic and eclectic, continues to evolve. * Combat Hapkido is not a sport and can not be modified nor regulated to be one. There are no competitions, tournaments or championships.

 

 

Mixed Martial Arts

 

 

Our Mixed Martial Arts program is suited for the beginner who just wants to learn some moves seen in the UFC® to the more experienced fighter who wants to train hard and compete in grappling, kickboxing, or mixed martial arts bouts. In general, Mixed Martial Arts classes combine the best of many martial arts, including striking, grappling, and wrestling. Students should expect a challenging but fun workout in a safe atmosphere. MMA students do not need to wear a Judo-gi or other uniform. Shorts and a t-shirt along with other protective gear (mouthguard, cup, and gloves) is acceptable dress for this class. For health and safety reasons shirts (regular t-shirts or tight-fitting shirts) are required for class. Those wishing to compete or train for competition in various fighting organizations are welcome and encouraged. We do ask all students be respectful of the other students and instructors. All students must always practice with control to avoid injuring their partners during practice. All ability levels are welcome. The MMA program incorporates striking found in Karate, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, and Boxing with wrestling takedowns and takedown defense, Judo grappling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grappling and submissions. The submissions covered include chokes, arm locks, wrist locks, ankle locks, knee locks, and neck holds. Striking includes punching, kicking, knees, and elbows from standing positions, clinched (close-in) positions, and on the ground. MMA Sport classes are the hardcore, anything goes, train hard, fight hard classes. You can expect to work on striking, throws, wrestling, submissions, and sport-specific conditioning in these classes. Expect a challenging workout and tough, but friendly competition. We want all of our classes to be completely safe, but the MMA Sport classes generally have the highest intensity. These classes will contain sparring. Anyone sparring must have full protective gear and must always practice control in striking, takedowns, and submissions. Our program combines striking, takedowns, grappling, and submissions into a complete art that covers stand up fighting, wrestling, ground fighting, and sport fighting as seen in the UFC® and other MMA fight leagues, as well as specific fight strategies for each fighter (such as Ground & Pound or Sprawl & Brawl). The program also includes extensive sport-specific conditioning to help athletes become more powerful and gain more endurance in competitive situations. Some of our students compete in local and national fight leagues and tournaments. BabyDojo

 BABYDOJO™ AGES 1-2 (BABY EDITION)
Our BabyDojo™ program for ages 1-2 provides the parent and child a safe environment to develop beginning levels of martial arts concepts, gross motor skill development and parent/child bonding.

 BABYDOJO™ AGES 2-4 (TODDLER EDITION)
Our BabyDojo™ program for ages 2-4 provides the parent and child a safe environment to encourage children to have fun learning through play, singing, and movement.  Our classes assist the parent and child to explore and develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and morally.  Children use equipment and are engaged in activities specifically geared towards martial art development along with normal growth and development that is age specific.  BabyDojo™ classes provide character education by focusing on a specific character trait through story time, mat chats and role-modeling.

 BABYDOJO™ AGES 4-6 (PRESCHOOL EDITION)

Tae-Play 

 Tae-Play is a unique martial arts class designed exclusively for children who have Autism, PDD, or Asperger’s and their parents and/or wrap around staff. Tae-Play classes provide specific activities geared toward teaching martial arts skills, social skills and sensory skills. All skills are taught in a supportive, positive, and non-violent environment. Highly structured classes help promote self-discipline, self-confidence, and achievement. The Tae-Play creator is a Bachelor’s prepared RN with 10+ years of adult and child behavioral health nursing experience.

Cardio Kickboxing

Black Belt Club

 Taekwondo America Plus’s BLACK BELT CLUB offers all ranks and ages 4-16 the most dynamic and exciting martial arts club available today! XMA (Xtreme Martial Arts) is a combination of techniques, methods of movements and philosophies from all martial arts styles. It is a mixture of virtually all martial arts styles blended together with high-flying acrobatics and gymnastics and the hottest Hong Kong “Chop-Saki” action. It is what the kids are seeing on TV, in the movies and on the Internet. The goal of XMA is to take the skills our students have and take them to the Xtreme level and to challenge the students to become better than they thought possible. Leadership Program Taekwondo America Plus’s Leadership Program is our premier instructor development program. This elite group of individuals are striving for Black Belt Excellence in every aspect of their martial arts training. The program is offered once per week for a 30-minute class. The class will view martial arts instructor DVD’s, learn how to manage and run a martial arts class and be trained in many aspects of running a martial arts business. The Taekwondo program has 4 levels of training available: Level 1: Junior Leaders—SWAT: Must be 8 years of age, any rank Level 2: Junior Leaders—STORM: Must be 10 years of age, a 1st degree black belt, must pass a physical test of forms knowledge (white thru black belt). Level 3: Trainee Instructors: Must be 16 Years of age, a first degree black belt, must pass a physical test of forms, sparring combos and nunchaku. Level 4: Certified Instructors: Must be 18 Years of age, a second degree black belt, must follow UTA general guidelines and test at an official UTA East or West Coast Certification Camp. All levels must re-certify yearly at the annual certification bootcamp. All programs have an additional sheet that outlines the duties, responsibilities and requirements of the title of instructor. Private Lessons Private Lessons are offered at the Taekwondo America Plus for those students who wish to experience the power of one-on-one instruction. These classes are scheduled around the student's availability and consequently, are perfect for students who are having a difficult time attending the group classes. Pre-Team

 

 

Pre-Team is for children ages 5-8 whom are wanting to take the next step towards being part of the Xtreme Team. The Pre-Team work on conditioning, basic weapons fundamentals and performance skills. They will be asked to participate in demonstrations such as testing demonstrations, parades, and other venues like daycare center and school visits. Pre-Team members get a lot of personal attention and will be groomed to move into the competition and leadership positions within our martial arts school. Contact Master Kish for details.

 

 

Xtreme Team 

 

 

Xtreme Team for ages 8 and older is an elite level of martial arts training. This program not only offers your child advanced training, but gives your child more reasons to stay focused and stick with martial arts training. This program is advanced and is not to be confused with the basic martial arts program. The Xtreme Team program is geared towards advanced martial arts training which will include competition, demo and charity involvement. This special program will help you to become the best that you can possibly be as a martial arts competitor. Xtreme Team represents the best of the best within our school that would like the opportunity to compete in local, regional, state and national competitions. These students will learn how to compete in forms, sparring, weapons and more. They will have the opportunity to win trophies at tournaments, win state and national titles, get media coverage in magazines and receive special team only uniforms and equipment. Take your first step into being a martial arts legend. This program requires commitment, determination, perseverance and loyalty.
